Great Lakes Grant Fills that Gap
St. Catherine University’s Center for Community Work and Learning (CWL) is collaborating with nonprofits in the Twin Cities area this academic year to develop 60 paid internships for students who receive financial aid. The local partnerships were made possible with a $148,826 Career Ready Internship Grant from the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation.
“We look forward to seeing the impact St. Catherine University can have on helping more students graduate ready for success in the workforce,” says Richard D. George, Great Lakes’ president and chief executive officer.
“This grant allows our students with financial need to serve their communities, develop career skills, contribute to a nonprofit and benefit from a paycheck to help finance their undergraduate degree,” says Martha Malinski, CWL director. “Nonprofits benefit from students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge and skills in a professional setting.”
