Hi, I think the woman in the far left is my mother Ruth I. Houle (Riley now). She is now 94, suffering memory loss. She recently told us that she was in the Army and took care of GIs coming home wounded from WWII. If you have the full picture, I’d love to see it.
— Jodi Barb; Rancho Cucamonga, California

Editor’s Note: We sent Jodi the original image and checked some records for her. Ruth Houle earned a nursing diploma from St. Kate’s in 1945. Jodi’s reply: “Thank you! I’d love to see if someone knew my mom. I can’t say 100% that the picture is her. My mother mentions a Sister Cecilia helping her get into classes.”

Greetings. We would like permission to use a picture from page 14 (“Teaching Goes High Tech,” summer 2017) for our poster presentation at the Elsevier Nursing Education Conference in Las Vegas on January 3–5. We, along with our St. Kate’s colleague Kathryn Molitor, wrote and designed the perinatal simulation that you featured — and we’re excited to present findings from a study we conducted to identify students’ knowledge and comfort levels during that simulation.
— Barb Lutmer and Diane Compo Milow, assistant professors, nursing

The ‘chemistry’ issue — what a coincidence that it should come out after Mary Thompson died [June 25, 2017]. The chemistry faculty, past and present, came in numbers to honor her at her funeral. I hope you will feature her in the next issue.
— Margery Smith, CSJ, ’49; professor 1968–93; St. Kate’s archivist, 1993–2011

Editor’s Note: We profiled Sister Mary Thompson, CSJ ’53 in our October 2013 “Women in Science” issue, along with five other amazing professors!
